Most Promising College Football Players
1. Deshaun Watson
Quarterback at Clemson - He is arguably the best player in college football right now. He has taken his team to the championship game back to back in 2016 and 2017. More remarkably, he is a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist. What makes him even more impressive is his academics. Not only is he the first in his family to attend a four-year university, he will be finishing his degree a year early. Watson is expected to be one of the top picks in the 2017 NFL Draft.
2. Christian McCaffrey
Running back at Standford - In 2015, he was named AP College Football Player of the Year. He currently holds the record for most all-purpose yards in a season, meaning he has moved the football down field more than any other running back has in college football history. McCaffrey comes from a family of athletes. His father was a former NFL player, his mother was a Stanford soccer player, his older brother played college football at Duke, and his younger brothers will be joining the Michigan college football team.
3. Leonard Fournette
Running Back at LSU - His college football career started with very high expectations from everyone. ESPN ranked him as the No. 1 recruit of his class. Fournette did not disappoint. In his sophomore year at LSU, he played an outstanding season, setting school records and winning the All-American title. Unforunately, things took a downturn this season. Fournette injured his ankle at the beginning of the season and missed several important games. Currently a junior in college, Fournette will be entering in the 2017 NFL Draft. Oh, and, Fournette has a 2-year-old daughter named Lyric.
4. Jalen Hurts
Quarterback at Alabama - He is the freshman quarterback of the best college football team in the nation right now. Usually, freshmen don't get to play, because they need to practice for a year before they are ready to play with the big boys. Not Jalen. He may soon become the first freshman QB to win an undefeated season AND the national championship.
5. Sam Darnold
Quarterback at USC - Sophomore Sam Darnold stepped up to be the USC quarterback mid way through the 2016 season and led his team to win consecutive games for the rest of the season. At the end of the season, he was awarded the Archie Griffin award, which recognizes the league's most valuable player to his team. No first year starting player has ever received that award.
